INFORMATION PROCESSING MODEL OF TEACHING
A model of teaching is a plan or pattern that can be used to shape curricula, to design instructional materials and to guide instruction in the classroom and other settingsJoyce and Weil organised the alternative models of teaching into four families they are :-
1. Information Processing Model
2. Social Family
3. Personal Family.
4. Behavioural Family
Information processing models
Emphasize ways of enhancing the human being's innate drive to make sense of the world by acquiring and organizing data, sensing problems ingenerating solutions, and to convey them the models of teaching of this family are concerned with the organisation, presentation, verbal and non-vernal symbols in a way that helps in the formation of concept and solution of problem and development of social relationship and integrated personality.

Information Processing models include,
1. Inductive thinking Model
2. Concept attainment Model
3. Picture-word inductive model

3. Picture-word inductive model
4. Scientific inquiry model
5. Inquiry training model
5. Inquiry training model
6. Mnemonics
7. Synectics
8. Advanced organizer
1. Inductive Model of Teaching of Hilda Taba
It proposes to process the informatioon through inductive process. We manipulate the environment and give tasks to students to enhance learning and we help them consciously

2. Concept Attainment Model of J.Bruner The search for and listing of attributes that can be used to distinguish exemplars from non-exemplars of various concepts.
It proposes to develop concept and inductive reasoning, that is , developing a concept after presenting its exemplars and non-exemplars .

3. Picture-Word Model
Students construct learning about printed language and develop the skills of extracting and organizing information in all curriculum areas- draw lines from a picture to add words.

4. Scientific Inquiry of J.Schwabo teach students to process information using techniques similar to those in the real scientific community.

5. Memory Model of Henry Lorayne
To improve memory increases learning power, saves time, and leads to a better storehouse of information. This model helps to increase the capacity to memorise cocepts, facts etc.
6.Synetics
Groups of people trained to work together to function as problem solvers or product developers--through analogies
7. Advance Organizers Model of David Ausubel
The model organize information and ideas that will encounter in the beginning of the lesson. It proposes to increase the capacity of the learner to absorb and relate below of knowledge.
